I just measured 3 Felpro ones
Got 4.357
So I'm sticking to it   :D

That's because it's so dry in Kalifornia that they shrunk lol  fire ring and all :yikes:

That's why we stick to Corteco's they're consistent and we like them.

1.000 It's a standard Cadillac pin.  It may actually be like a .999 but we always refer to it as a 1 inch pin.

Regardless of the fire ring measurement, from my experience the Fel Pro gasket works fine on a .060" engine.  :twocents:

We are still after it after all these years.  This year has been a trademark year for us.  We have finished our aluminum head project, we have a bolt on intake for them, and now we are still continuing to be the innovators of big block Cadillac performance and design.  We will soon be releasing a new part and continuing on a couple new design ideas.  We will let you know within the next week all the details and availability.

Now back to the topic at hand.  For the chosen few that know a little more about our current and\or up coming projects you will have already seen or heard a little about the new products we are working on.  The first to be released is the new CPP High Performance Main Girdle.  If you have doubts about the structural integrity of the 500 Cadillac you can sleep once again.  The new main girdle is built out of a solid piece of T6 aluminum.  We have been designing this for about 8 months now and have come up with a design that is as functional as it it bullet proof.  It incorporates all 20 oil pan bolts and all 10 main studs.  It's unique design also makes cam swapping a painless option.  You now longer need to drop the oil pan to remove the timing cover.  With it's overall design and increased bottom end stability you will be able to go above the normal limits of the 500 Cadillac engine and see what real reliable power is all about.  It is ideal for any Blower, Nitrous or Turbo engine and any 750+ N\A Cadillac out there.  We don't have an exact price yet but will have one by the final release.

Finished product should be nice.
Here I go with the questions.
Will the mains need to be align honed after installation?
Will the main caps need to be machined flat on the girdle side?
Use stock oil pick up and pan or something special?
Will there be a combo price on girdle, pick up and pan?
Will the girdle be machined in house or will it be contracted out?
How about a lighter, billet or cast crank that doesn't break the bank?

Thanks, John

Now that is cool.

Nice piece....

John,
I think you got most the big questions out on the first swing.  Nice.  There will be several options for this item.  The first and foremost thing is the mains will need to be at the correct height.  So you can either machine, mill, or grind the caps roughly .005 depending on what has already been done to the caps.  We allowed this for several reasons:
1-not all blocks are 100% the same so we allowed for extra material to make them all right.
2-with this set up you will have the option to go to 100 ft lbs on the mains but you will need to take the extra material off the block side of the caps and have it line honed while torqued to 100 ft lbs with moly.
3-if you are pushing the limits of a block these are things that would be done anyway and making the girdle allow for it will not be a complication

The new girdle will have a special pick up and oil pan.  We have incorporated it into the girdle as best can be done so that is is painless.  It will also allow for internal or external pick up.  The pan will also be custom due to the size of the girdle, placement of the girdle, and adequate design.  These will also be sold as a set with a special price because of the custom designs that are required.  All parts included in this item will be done in house and no contract out work required.  So no we won't be waiting on everyone else to do the job.  I have been looking at doing cranks for a long time now but have been relentless at finding someone to make them within a reasonable cost.  That's why they remain custom.  Sorry wish I had more for you on the crank.

Here we go people.  It is finished.  The new 500 Cadillac block girdle.  The need for an aftermarket block can be pushed back for now.  This main girdle, with the incorporation of the mains and the pan rail, will strengthen the bottom end and keep it together somewhere around the 2000 hp mark or better.  The over cap design increased the strength of the main in a strap design, and the additional material incorporated with the pan rail adds the structure you would get out of an aftermarket block with improved mains.  We have relocated the dipstick into the girdle and allowed provisions for external sump.  These will be short runs by order and we will be doing 3 to 5 at a time.  These are machined from a solid piece of T6 aluminum.  The materials involved won't allow a larger run unless they are ordered before machine date.  These pieces are $995, and available now.

Looks very nice.

A few more questions:

How does the timing cover seal to the girdle? Silicone? Will it need modified to work with the girdle? Will a stock timing cover work, or will your stainless one be needed?

Does the girdle retain the stock oil pan bolt pattern on the bottom?

Do you have any mandrels to drive the belt for an external oil pump? Any gears?

Any brackets to mount an external pump?

What is done with the stock oil pump location if you use an external oil pump?

Is the oil pump shaft drive required to stabilize the distributor for any reason?

Thanks

What testing has been done to verify that this girdle design will allow the cadillac block to withstand 2000 + hp ?

Or is this just pure speculation or guessing on CPP's part ?

As i stated in the last thread nothing has been addressed as far as cap strength or cap fitment or cap movement for and aft .

You will seal the timing cover to the girdle with silicone.  You have to take part of the lip off of the stock cover or use our aluminum cover.  It can be done with tin snips it's a very easy mod.  The oil pan will have to be a custom but we will be able to do them cheap.  With the incorporation of the oil pan bolt hole it does require a custom pattern but pan will look like an LS oil Pan.  An external pump is easy to do but We are looking mainly at doing external sump.  With our pan and girdle you can also use dry sump fairly easy.

JW,
With our girdle the mains will be machined for proper fitment.  As you said yourself keeping the mains the same material is ideal.  http://www.cadillacpower.com/forum/inde ... html  The stock caps are machined and just need to be trued up for our girdle.
