hit new to the siite

110 in wheelbase heavy 27 t bucket 3050 lbs with me in it, original 1971 500 engine out of a Eldorado original bottom end and rebuilt heads 35 year old Turbo 400  with a BM shift kit stock converter 355 rear gears in a posi rear, stock intake, home modified quadrajet with 29 inch by 10.5 slicks will run 13.20 and 30's all day long leaving it in drive and shifting at 4600 rpm with a 1.81 60 ft  best of 12.96 shifting manually at about 4800 blast to drive have built a set of zoomies for the drag races.

'71 C-10 pickup.

1975 std bore, std crank, stock rod, stock bolts, stock valved stock rocker 500 [slight back cut on intakes]. Non-stock parts inside are a Howards cam and yellow GM behives from LS engines. Slight compression increase via .013" block cut and .024" head cut. 493 heads with bowl work and pushrod turn work, exh short turn cut down a bit. 8.6-1 CR.

One .090" x .090" Somander groove in each cylinder's quench area, aimed at plug. 2215 edel, 1" open spacer, large primary QJ from a '76 caddy. Points, cheap yellow Accel wires. 87 octane, 36* timing. Cam is slow ramp 232/240 at 50, on a 112, .536" lift with stock rockers, installed +6.

1.875" x 3.5" headers, 3" exhaust with bullet race mufflers [2 per side]. Switch-pitch 400, 3.55 gears, 29x18.5 mickey pros.

Weighs *apx* 3860 w/o driver. 13.39 at 98 in fair air at 1250' track elevation in street trim. 1.82 sixty foot.

update:

Swapped the too loose in low stall PAE convertor for a stock 2000/3000. Sixty foot went to 1.79 but rest of run was slower due to a different governor shifting at a too low 4100 rpm.

Swapped in 4.10 gears, X pipe exhaust and raised intake roofs in the heads. Went 13.32 at 98 with a better 1.73 sixty foot in very poor air with governor set for apx 4700 shift.

Another track with a so-so starting line, but better air gave me a 13.10 in same configuration. Removing air cleaner and dropping tailgate gave me a 12.97 at 100 with a 1.74 short time on both runs.

All runs on 87 octane.

2nd motor.......49K miles on stock rebuild 425 , Stock bore, 100% internal stock parts , 1969 472 modified stock intake- same exhaust as 1st motor- HEI with Accel Module - MSD Soft Touch Rev Control with 4800 rpm chip - 20* timing

3rd motor..........same as #2 above with Comp 270H cam

Best ET on 1st Motor ...........14.27 at 93 mph

Best ET on 2nd Motor ...........13.88 at 96 mph

Best ET on 3rd Motor.............13.71 at 98.15 mph ( 6/20/09 )

Just finished the  NHRA Division 7  Summit Bracket Racing series at Speedworld Dragstrip in Surprise AZ on August 2. 2008 Ran the first motor in race #1  , used my 90 Silverado 350 in races #2 and #3 , finished with the 2nd motor in races #4 , #5 , #6 and #7.

Update: Took some jet and timing out. 11.66 at 113.96 1.63 with sixty. Tire spin issues.

Hi all...since this picture was taken I have finished the truk, it now has windows and went to the track friday nite for test and tune.

It is a 51 Ford pickup cab chopped 4 inches, sittin on an 84 S10 frame that I back halfed using ladder bars and coil overs with a 9 in rear, 3.50 gear with spool and 31 spline ford axles. Wheels are Monoque with 16 x 33 goodyears from a swap meet, couldn't pass on the price. 500 caddy is .030 over with 353 KBs on 4130 I beam rods. 270H Comp cam Cloyes chain, chevy lifters 3/8 pushrods, I think they are 10.1?..Potters adjustable shaft rockers. Heads are 950s with 2.11 and 1.77 pontiac valves, 1.25 small block springs at 120 seat pressure. Little pocket porting to acomodate the valves. 2115 Edelbrock, no mods, 870 Holley street avenger. HEI dizzy , MSD coil, no vaccum advance, light advance springs gives it 20* at 2000 rpm for a total of 30* crankshaft. Headers are 1 7/8 tubes all about 45 inches long into 3.50 collector. Loud next to my ear drums. 350 turbo trans with race clutches and shift kit but still has modulator. May chang that.
Went to test and tune  and best ET is 8.09 1/8 mile and 12.50 at 1/4 mi. Seriuos bog at mid track, will work on that cuz I want at least 11 second 1/4 miles.

Here's alittle update...combination remains the same except after trying 3 different carbs I settled with a 4779. 74 primary jets, 76 sec. 30cc front pump,31 squirter, 50cc sec pumpw/35 squirter. This carb does not bog like all previous carbs.

You can call me 74 Novallac now. I used to be Bonneville 500. That car is long gone but the engine is going into my 74 Nova. It used to be a ten second drag car (with a 468 chevy) that the guy I bought it from had returned to the street. My wife and I have made quite a few street improvements to it, i.e. power fourwheel disc brakes, power steering, better seats, heater, more streetable 2.75 gears, etc. I can't wait to see what the Bonneville's old engine will do in this car considering the heads have been fully ported and it now has headers and a Cad Co. 250 cam and shaft rockers. I plan to get an Edelbrock intake too. Been thinking about a 125 hp N2O kit but up here in N.H. that's illegal on the street. :nono: :weeping: The Nova has been backhalved with a nine inch ford rearend, full rollcage, ladderbars and coilovers. I found the former race days owner and he filled me in on what the car was like then. It pulled wheelies and ran 1.5 sec 60 foot times. Should be fun as a street car! :yes: The engine coming out of the Nova is a crate 350 with a Weiand 177 blower. It runs great and is for sale for $4,000.00 :eyebrow: I wonder how the gas mileage will compair? Best I ever got with the chevy combo was 17.5.
