Do we Need another choice in Intakes for the 472/500

It's set up for the raised port stock heads. Just need to match the runners to the plates now. Bolted it to a block with heads on it during welding to keep everything straight. Lots of money can be spent doing this kinda stuff....A little over $250 for the intake when I bought it+ plates+welding= somewhere around $650 or so. Last intake I'll ever need for Caddy.
 
That is a very nice piece. I hope that all the work, effort and of course the coin, pay off in the long run. I am with dave on this being a worthy effort. It would be nice to get some flow information and some comparative dyno information on said item??? lol just a little wishful thinking.

EZ ..... No, I am not eligible for "OMG!" claim to such big horsepower . I apologize for any confusion I may have contributed by not labeling at least the first line of the data entered.

Horsepower on the left / Torque on the right.

I was able to achieve 90% of peak torque between 2300 and 4600 rpm on 87 octane at 32* advance with 10.3:1 cr.

OK. So flip the HP and TQ numbers and it's still a great engine in a street rod! Congratulations! :beer2:

You've got 600 TQ bottom to top and almost 500 HP under 4500 RPM and you're apologizing??? lol
I need you to build my engines for me. :metal:

Instead of extrude honing,how about making an adapter and pumping some concrete through it?
Theres concrete pumps everywhere.
 
After reading all about intakes here, I would settle for an aluminum type, designed like a stock type, with porting, and maybe an inch higher at the carb flange etc :D

Randy ..... Do you have any idea how long concrete could be pumped through the manifold before it set up ? Im not so sure of this ... wait a minute ... do you happen to have a concrete pump in your inventory and need to sell ? I'll call ya on the way to Soddy .

You could use a lime and black beauty mix with some super in it im sure it would polish the bahjeehus out of the inside of the manifold and not set up.....anything with cement in it might not be a good idea,could use some synthetic slab jacking slurry with some black beauty if you didnt put the admixture in it it would basically just dry out and never setup.....and its cheap maybe $7 for a 80 LB bag.

Have to get some friends to shovel the mix back into the pump.

Just need to get a pump union for the pump and something to bolt to the carb pad......might actually do something.

At first I thought you were referring to me (Black Beauty Mix) but decided it had something to do with something abrasive (which obviously left me out), so for those of us born before 1970, what is Black Beauty Mix?

Its furnace slag that depending on who makes it is very abrasive

Could also use silicon carbide and there are other media that are just as abrasive.

Would probably be cheaper however to just have the manifold extrude honed unless you have a pump handy and wanna shovel yer ass off.

Northern tool sells it quite inexpensively. I was looking into this last week, as my local Fleet Farm was selling hand ice augers (ice fishing) for $40. A low rpm motor and some PVC pipe can make an oversized sausage stuffer. Another way is an old propane tank with a screw on cap installed. Fill the tank, pressurize with a compressor, and push the mix out a 2" ball valve on the bottom. Very timely thread direction. Could it polish the inside or ports ? Might be worth a few different people trying so that techniques could be optimized.
 
You will need a high volume and more pressure than a sausage stuffer to make this work,and the media will need to be more than just abrasive youll need it to be more plastic like concrete.
 
Volume should not enter in if the port is filled and capped with an old valve and spring. The spring acts as the regulator, and the volume is well within the capacity of most compressors. You are not blasting, just moving a plug of wet material (slurry) through the object. You are not giving any info on your negative comments, please think through and elaborate.
