The time bomb......

Terry,we're waiting til the 4th of july to spring the N word on you....well maybe not, the boys would help you spray it :mischievous:  hint hint guys......

Hey,the JD filter can be new as long as the price is as right as this one was. :tapedshut: I don't really work for the competition, just an independent rebuilder.Heck,I think maybe JD and IH filters are both Fleetguard anyway. :scratchchin:
Duane-The 540 cam from your brother is in the low comp engine in the T right now-ran its best pass ever three weeks ago with that cam in there. It's exactly the same as the one I ran last year, but looked a bit better so in it went this winter.Tell Darryl thanks again.
Geez-if Potter thinks I might need the bars there must be some promise in this combination..... :D :cloud9:
George,George,George....leave that N word out of this. :banghead: :D

Your right Terry, both get filters from Fleetguard.

Glad to hear it Terry.  He wasn't sure what to do with that cam after trying it in his last engine/car combo.  :weeping: He drove it into the garage and had to pull on the steering wheel and push the brake pedal with everything he had to keep it from going through the back wall of the garage.  :yikes: No vaccum for the brakes. (Maybe we did something wrong.  ??? ) Idled like a fuel altered too, but sounded really mean! He was really glad to hear how hard the T ran with that cam.

Rained last weekend so I couldn't go racing......so what did I do? :banghead: :banghead: I pulled the fresh 512 low comp engine (yes, the one with just one race on it) ,switched the intake and valvetrain over to the 504 high comp engine I just finished up and am fixin' to set it in the T tonight.I must be freakin' nuts. :screwy: Can't wait to hear it though.......  :mischievous:

Nice Valve Covers !!!

Wonder where you got those? :banghead: lol

Hey Terry... what kind of Thermostat Housing is that?

~JM~

:yikes: Holy smokes Terry.    That's  a preety small torque convertor for a torque monster------9 or 10 inch?  What does it stall  at?

Yeah-I "cooked" up a deal on those covers lol. It's a sbc t-stat housing with the holes slotted a bit-works fine. The converter is a Transmission Specialties 10" XLS (extra low stall) and it stalls to 3200 on the brakes in high and flashes to 3000 at launch....nice and tight with less than 5% slip at the big end too .We'll see how it likes another few ft/lbs here pretty soon :D.

  It Lives!
Started bolting stuff on tonight and before I knew it I was out of parts. ;) Damn, this T is easy to work on! Put the damper on 32 degrees and set the distributor so the reluctor tooth was a hair past the pickup coil, hit the button and Bam! :D she's running. Set a big fan in front and ran it for 20 minutes at 2000-2500 so the lobes stay on the cam(outer springs only),then slowed it down to a 900 rpm idle, and ...it idles,as Potter would say."like a farm tractor". lol Well, maybe not quite, but this 263 at .050 solid cam on a 112 advanced 6 idles better than the 248 at .050 hydraulic on 108 advanced 4. 'Course I do have 11.5 compression now instead of 8.6  :mischievous:
Going to warm it up again and set the valves tomorrow after I put the inner springs in,and if the RAIN stays away Saturday I'll go try it at the track.I'm taking along a broom and a couple buckets to bring the motor home in.
Doesn't sound any faster than the other motor....wonder what she'll do ???  :scratchchin:

Very nice Terry.  Starting to get alot of "bling" on there. You don't really expect it to come apart that easy do you?

I'll assume you "liberated"  that alternator from some piece of equipment at work?  I see alot of forklifts have similar alternators.

Damn" Bling"...I'm turning into a "shiny guy" lol! I only needed those covers for the stud girdles(not done yet)remember?  lol
Nah,I don't think it'll pop that easy, but it's fun to BS about. :bs:
How dare you accuse me of liberating that alt from a forklift at work.?!?
It's from a skid steer at work :ziplip:

Installed the inner springs, ran the valve lash and looked 'er over tonight....all is well. I checked cranking compression and it's 155 psi. Sounds low for 11+ compression but this cam has pretty long timing numbers. That 155 is just a bit above what the other engine had with lots shorter cam timing,so that tells me it should have at least as much power at the hit and gain from there. That's the plan anyway, lol. On the brakes in high gear it flashes the converter to 3200 so it looks good.
In other news,I picked up the steel for the stud girdles and will whittle them out tomorrow night. So now I have a reason for the high bling factor valve covers.... lol
Terry (hopin' for dry weather Saturday!)

Cooke's valvecovers off his Pontiac- absolutely bone dry,and they weigh nothing. If you threw one up in the air,it wouldn't come down.I'm not sure who made them.
  Terry

I was thinking they came from "UMP" -Ultimate Machined Products or something real close to that.

I found their web site a few days ago, they were around $275.  I think they sell on ebay....

Sorry for being vague, I suffer from CRS disease....

I wonder how the intake closing even compares between the two cams?
