Cam Lube

Okay I putting my new engine together and I have a basis question.  What cam lube would you use for a use cam?  Would just some standard engine assembly lube be good enough?

As a side note what is the best lube for a new cam?

Ted,

I used the black "moly" cam lube sparingly on the lobes and lifter faces. I also use a bottle of the comp oil additive [CCA-159]. Comp says to let it in the engine for 1000 miles, but I change oil after a couple of hours run time.

I use the same thing Dave does--the black and silver squeeze tube with the dreaded Moly.....lol. And my cam hasnt slipped out either---jusst blown out in 4 pieces...lmao.

Fwiw, I use 10w oil on lifter bodies and bores so they'll spin quickly. I also groove the bores with a comp tool. Hone bores with a brake wheel cyl hone.
 
I guess it would be bad to groove the bores now?  My machine shop did not have the right tool.

If if not bad to goove it now maybe I can borrow your tool?

Ted, be happy to loan it to you, but imo, it should be done when the block is bare, all sorts of evil shavings from the cutting and honing.

This is what I thought so it won't be done on this one.  Need to think ahead on the next one.
