Cadillac has introduced the newest member of its V-Series performance family, and not everyone will like it. After 21 years of producing high-intensity combustion-powered models, Cadillac's V-badged performance arm is going electric, introducing the Lyriq-V as the first electron-powered model to wear the hallowed badge. Arriving for the 2026 model year, the Lyriq-V will enter a new era for the marque, but it has a tough legacy to live up to, as V models have been some of our favorite Cadillacs ever built.

Underpinned by General Motors' Ultium platform, we're expecting increased performance over the current Lyriq lineup from a dual-motor powertrain. The current dual-motor AWD model boasts 515 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque with up to 319 miles of EPA-estimated range from its 102 kWh capacity battery. We know from the Escalade IQ that the Ultium platform can accommodate as much as 750 hp and 785 lb-ft from a dual-motor powertrain, but we don't expect Lyriq-V to produce quite that much and anticipate 600 hp. It could, however, produce as little as 557 hp and 684 lb-ft of torque, the same as the Chevrolet Blazer SS EV with which the Lyriq shares most of its underpinnings. Full details will be revealed in early 2025 ahead of a market launch next year. Read more...
