Been a long while since I have posted on here. Blew my last max effort caddy like 6 or so years ago now, tossed in the towel and jumped on the turbo ls band wagon. Just finished up a 91 K5 6.0 ls 4l80e build earlier this year and was just not satisfied with it. 8 mpg and no bottom end tq. Ran like crazy up top but just never liked how the power was so slow to come in. Ended up selling it and picked up a clean 86 short bed. Been back an fourth with what I was going to do. Decided I was going to throw my pump gas 500 back in with an np465/ 208 combo. Been ordering parts for the last month or so. Mocked up in a parts truck to build some motor mounts. Should have no shortage of low end tq an be fun to drive. In all my years tinkering with these engines I have never had one with a manual trans behind it. Will keep you guys updated as I move along.

Rob

This place is like a ghost town but I am happy to see some action happening. So whats your plan on a cam? Are you going roller?

Has a cadco grind 248@ 50, .354 lobe on a 108 lsa. Has late large chamber big valve ported heads, shaft rockers, mts single plane and about 9.5 compression. Was going to do holley sniper but ended up ordering an 850 brawler carb and robbmc fuel pump. When engine was in my cutlass calculators say it's around 550 hp. Should be plenty of fun in a manual shortbed.

Where did you get the flywheel? What kind of trans. I've been thinking stick shift too. Should actually be cheaper than auto.

I'm glad somebody else is using this! So I don't have to sort through goofy questions. Like "Where does this sensor go" or "How come the thingamjig blew off my whatya callit"!

It's going in a lifted truck so I went with a SM465 with granny low. Using a bop to chevy adapter plate. Flywheel and pilot bearing came from Cadco

Had to use a 5/8" drill bit on end of crank for input shaft clearance

I had a Blazer , put a 500-th400-208 6" lift
that thing would go through u-joints,
greaseing then every month might help

Good to have you back Rob. I always loved how your Cutlass sounded and ran.
