Thanks for the support

Have no idea, I wish i could trap at least one of those gremlins! I would torture it like they do me. I went out today to dial in the timing. All is good, hooked up the T-light, V-gauge close by, Go to start the motor and BANG!SLAP! WHINE, Smoke poring from the starter! I thought i blew the motor. Im sure someone knows how awful that feeling is? I quickly run to my bench and grab the 21mm & breaker bar. The motor turns fine. seems to be okay, I look under the bellhousing, flex plate loose, teeth chipped on both starter and flex plate. I used Locktite, on both the torque converter and the crank, There was never any lock washers anywhere so i didn't bother them. Torqued the flex plate to spec, The torque wrench is a snap on with its own case, about 7 years old never dropped or banged around, it should still be within specs. My guess is that the converter bolts backed out but i'm not sure. I'm still thankful its not the motor. Thats one gremlin. #2 is the trans pan, that will be fixed in a few days, #3 is the rear seal is leaking :cursing: , Really! I took my time test fit everything coated with fresh motor oil. maybe its because it sat awhile before initial start up i don't know. I had the same problem with my 301 turbo engine, New rebuild, leaking rear seal. The seals look the same, speaking only from memory 10yrs ago, flash back. i did use some rtv on the inside of the pan to the seal, not alot just for good measure, maybe that good measure was a bit too much :banghead: I'm still very happy!! IT RUNS.
Q:My headers are headman 454 on caddy flanges, the #1 header pipe is hitting the upper control arm. I cant raise the motor any more for clearance, If i dimple it, i should say message it with heat and a 2" round solid shaft, will it burn a hole there.I will form a "D" shape in the exhaust.( Darius i'm not referring to you Buddy!) For those that don't know i reply to him as "D" lol lol lol
Could i go back to the manifolds? #15 cam, I know it will choke up the exhaust, I don't know what to do. Thanks for everyones help.
A big thank you to MAD and Dave B. Both of them helped me early on in parts, oil selection, spring height, pressures, ect. Mostly threw PM's. Now that's not fair because everyone has helped, moral support, advice, there thoughts on how they built there motors, things they would have done different ect.
To think that i came into this blind to caddy's, and then feeling the air around me shaking my internal organs while my hearing faded quickly, Man i came alive. That is a great moment! I owe to the Cadillac Power Forum, Thank You My Brothers.
