This is my new frame going in, You can see the old frame in the back ground there. I took the measurements from the old frame and drilled new motor mount hole, Actually for the metal plate i fabbed for the mounts. It's in the car now, I'll have to get new pics of that this week end. I cant tighten the upper and lowers control arms yet. I have to wait for the motor to be in the frame. Then the alignment, I hate doing it, takes me awhile. Because Dad keeps YELLING at me telling me I'm doing everything wrong. :backinmyday: we did it like this, Get out of my way boy. Then quickly says you come down here an tighten this stuff up its your car, lol lol lol lol . He gets a kick out of being grumpy!

D. Thanks for info"down the hall to the right!" You need more toilet paper with all that crap you bring! , LOVE IT. Keep it coming.

Okay, anyway this is the new frame. All new front tinga-ma-jiggies.haha, its bolted up, ready to go!Ive got to install new front brake lines, that will be on Aug,17,2015. I got the heads back from the machine shop. The #15 cam is installed, rocker shafts is installed, lifters and pushrods. I was reading an older post, say 2006, whith the cam gear and crank gear are at 12 and 6, the crankshaft keyway is at 7 0'clock. # one,pass.side,@t.d.c..
If i understand correctly i now will need to turn the crank one full turn until both dots are at 12 oclock. This should put me at t.d.c. on the compression stroke of #1. Correct? I read were LOTS of folks like me screw this up. Im new to cadillac engines.
Ill prime the pump before i stab it with the dist. I was thinking about using the 368 oil pump but i read were people had problems with them, so im going to stay with the original. it is at 90 degrees, was trying to gain more room. Got the break in oil and 2 new filters. Im alittle nervouse about the starting. Hope everything goes fine. Ill figure this picture stuff out soon enough.

one cylinder has rust in it I wiped it down with wd-40 that come off will that be a problem? you can also see I have two different type of oil pump I want to know which one would be best. aluminum came up with 368 Cadillac. it faces 90 degrees out will give me a little more room all around my torsion bar
and you can see the remanufactured tag I really lucked out when I bought that car

A few more pics of my progress. I'll have some of the motor and before and after painting. I found out that stock valve covers won't fit on new rocker shaft

This puts cyl #4 at firing position

Correct. Or, leave it as it was and install dist with rotor pointing to #4 wire.
--

Or, turn cam/crank so both marks are up when installing sprockets and you will be at #1 firing position. Imo, the 12/6 position install is used by GM to make it harder to screw up.
--

The cheap chromed steel eBay [or MTS] valve covers might clear.
--

****** IMPORTANT - make sure that your oil pump gasket is no thicker than .008". Some gasket kits have a gasket made of thicker mat'l = lower oil pressure, harder to get pump to prime.

Dave

Here some pics so far. I still have to Get the crank pulley on. I polished the crank, not God enough.

Thanks Doug! What did you think about the Whale? Personalized and all. :whistleblower: Had to do it after calling me out lol lol lol lol lol

I liked it ....from Seaworld California? (was with the pics of the subframe you tried to put on here)

Buick Red Cadillac Motor? I thought you might try to pull a fast one on the future gawkers by painting it Pontiac Blue at least. :screwy:

Just kidding , seen someone else do it ( Red) before on here. I guess the "Candy Lime" Caddy motor in another post on here is way over the top in a good way...........................

Continue on with your build..........................
