Well, here it is :screwy:.....the .020 over 500 with stock late cast pistons and rods(ARP bolts),zero decked,.100" reliefs,mucho-ported 80cc heads with 2.19/1.88's,263 at .050/.585" lift on 112 solid cam,(advanced 6),good used aluminum oil pump ported by me,and a well-massaged Eldo oil pan with quick change front cover (in case this thing lives long enough to try a different cam lol).
Sometime this month I'll try to swap it into the T and go kill it. Think it'll speed me up any? How much?

Terry (CSOB--I couldn't help it....I already had all the parts.Notice it has a John Deere oil filter from work on it? :D)

Whats that work out too 13:1?  Bitchin'  SWAG at .6 improvement.

Are those Corteca's peeking out?  That duration seems high for the lift. Or am I thinking wrong? Studs on the inside and bolts on the outside of the heads? Just asking, thats what it looks like.

Take them wheelie bars off! I wanna see some scary high hoop action!  :D

Hmmm I'll bet the studs are for the valverain he has, 'cuz there's only 4 studs and 5 head bolts.

Terry,

I'd say that you'll be knocking on the 9 second door. You gonna keep it fueled fat for safety, at least at first?

The compression is in the mid 11 range due to the slight dish in the late piston.Yep,Corteco gaskets at .050" crushed, and the studs are valvetrain mountings. The nuts are just on there 'til the loctite sets up.The duration on the cam isn't too far off for the lift-maybe a bit less than some current designs ,but I want to be a bit conservative in stressing the valvetrain.I'm going to keep the carb jetted as is as long as the race fuel I mix is the same specific gravity as what I'm using out of the pump-otherwise I'll adjust accordingly.I'll start at 32 degrees of timing and go from there.
The bars are off-the four link wants to go forward instead of up anyway, and I'm not putting them back until I need them.
Sure would be cool to get near 10.00  :D :D

Terry,
You heard Sean. Take'm off. Have Kyle and Kendall there with the cam-corder and the camera. We hadn't had an entertaining video on here since I screwed up and posted the "nut" kicking video. Come on, you ain't got a hair..........

They're off,They're off!!!! They've been off since last year a month from season's end,and the car just goes forward right now when it launches. We'll see what some more power does......
  Terry
hmmmm.....ain't got a hair, huh????? lol This is a rough crowd

Hey Terry, looks great. What kinda seat/open spring pressure are you running with that cam?

I bet you dont kill it and maybe regear it.....it's gonna rock!

Later, LUXLX

I hope you guys are right
Seat pressure is 130# and open is 360#. Not sure I need that much but it's the best I can come up with using the parts I have.I'll break it in with just the outers.
I may need to find a set of 3.25 gears for the 9". Anyone have any lying around?
   Terry

Brian-
I run the Edelbrock with either the valley pan or no gasket at all...just a light smear of RTV around the ports and a bead at the ends. It's been working that way all last season and I'll go that way again.
  Terry

Look at them ports shine, must have been a long winter again!

                         hmmmm.....ain't got a hair,huh??  This is a rough crowd

They are only rough when they need to be. :yikes:

  Hi Charlie-
Yep,long winter! These heads are pretty good the way they look to me.Never could get the sbc crowd out of the way long enough to get the heads flowed so I just stuck 'em on without doing it.
As for the rough crowd,at least no one has mentioned the "N" word yet in this thread.... lol lol

Is it a used JD filter is the question? :D

Oh no!  Terry I didn't know you worked for the competition!  My cad will be running Case IH filters....

Hi Terry. So this is what you've been up to all winter.  Looks good! Do you still run the 540 cam in the other engine, like the cam my brother sold you? If my thinking is right, and I'm no expert, I don't think the compression will be a problem in this engine if the cam has enough overlap. I recall the setup that Caddycarlo has in his to run 12 to 1 with a blower. It's all in the combo.  My brother's 540 engine is almost done but it will be a while before the Chevelle is road ready. Wish I had the stuff needed to post a pic here for everyone. Sorry 'bout that.  :worried:
