What vehicle(s) do you drive?
1987 Cutlass Supreme 2 door with 500 Cad/Turbo 40
Well I finally got around to having a pair of 902s cleaned up and disassembled so I can port them prior to getting them fitted for BBC (Chevy) intake and exhaust valves. I've been through this before but I was convinced to have the exhaust crossover welded shut. An overheating incident saw both heads crack. SO I'm going to do it all over again, I hope better this time. The intakes will see the pushrod guide bulge cut back some. The valve guide bosses smoothed and reduced. I recall that raising the roof entrance is important. How much? With my finger it feels like a lot should be ground away for a straight shot into the port from the Edelbrock intake manifold. How much can I lay back the combustion chamber to improve breathing? Is it OK to grind up to the edge of where you can see the head gasket was? How about where the valve seat meets the quench pad? I'm going to fill the crossover with melted aluminum. The exhaust ports will be polished and the area under the valve seats smoothed out.
