hello,
blazer with 500 is running,
but wont charge,
tested battery, ok
replaced alt.
i put a new 2 prong plug on the alt,
of the 2 wires, which one goes to the main wire on the alt,
their is a red an a white.
on the old alt i used the white, but the alt started smoking.
so on this one i used the red,
but when i pull the battery cable off the battery, it stalls out.
please HELP,

On the plug, just run the red directly to the charging post and omit the white wire.  I've done a number of rigs that way and just ran a decent gauge lead from the charging post directly to the battery :twocents:

yup, thats what i did,
i did some research on the net,
i read that a high output alt, will not charge at low rpm,
so im going to check that tomorrow,
i hope i figure it out,  i need to make 4 trips to Tn,
600 mi each way. pulling a trailer 6000lbs

Is it an internal or externally regulated alternator? If external, you need a wire from alt output to battery, another wire from alt field to field on voltage reg, then on the reg you need a wire from A terminal to battery positive, then from S terminal to ignition switch.

HELLO,
ran a wire from alt to battery,
still 8 amps when i start it up,
rev the engine up a little.
boom,  went right to 13 amps,
so it did need the wire an does not charge at idle.
so far working great.
oh yea, forgot, its an internal,
thank you,
Ox
