Billet steel main caps?

Anyone care to explain what they do exactly and if the caddies need them in some applications?  It appears the caddies have cap walk when going past the 500-600hp range. Would billet caps help here? Or is a girdle better, or is both the way to go?  Would cost be way too high to consider having some made?

Where billet caps shine is any application that lets you do splayed outer bolts, on 4 bolt caps you stud the inners and bolt the outers.They are also stronger due the added material (thicker) and less brittle. Potters mini girdle is the best over the counter part right now, but I wonder if you could dowel pin one or both sides of the main caps to help? :scratchchin:

In our oppinion steel caps(aftermarket) are a bad idea
Aluminum or some metal matrix cast iron that better resembles the OE cast iron would be better.
dowels in the block to locate the caps would do wonders to keep them in place along with a girdle and a 1/2 TO 3/4 fill with pro fil or hard block would be in order.
The horespower level where you need to go to all this is another subject and we think these things will be well defined soon...TI

Dowels would be in order in extreem cases, but the caps are pretty beefy. I think the webbing would let go before the cap , especially with a girdle .IMO, I guess we'll all see soon enough!
