Hi. I’m in the process of installing a 472 into my ‘54. I’ve shaved the firewall, beat on the K member and have a rear sump set up. My current issue will be the steering box and brake set up. I’m looking into changing the box rather than trying to fit the exhaust around it. That’s where I’m stuck. Any ideas which would be a good swap?

I put a 472 in my 54 Series 62. I took a big block chevy header with 1 3/4 primaries, cut up all of the pipes and repositioned the 3 pipes, 2.4.6 to go around the front of the steering box. Pipe number 8 wrapped around the steering column and dumped into a collector below. I had to C notch the brake arm to get full travel from its rest position as it had fit around pipe 8. It is difficult. But, I did it and it looks cool!
