camshafts

Hi I Have destroyed the CAM thrust surface in my block. Hot rollercam with high springload. Cloyes timing set and a cambutton with needles Does anyone know If this is a common problem with rollercams? Do I need to use some kind of bearing, Torrington? Regards Erik
