The Cadillac DTS is considered an exquisite vehicle by most, but it is not without competition. Two of the more prominent competitors of the DTS are the Lincoln Town Car and the Infinity M35, in no particular order. All three of these vehicles are luxurious, stylish, and of high quality so it should be no surprise that they are in competition with one another. For starters, the Cadillac, Lincoln, and Infiniti are all in the same price bracket. The manufacturers suggested retail price for the DTS is just under $42,000, the Town Car is priced at just over $42,000, and the Infiniti M35 is priced right around $40,000. With less than $2000 difference between the three, price is hardly the deciding factor for most consumers.
These three vehicles may be priced similarly, but they are powered by different engines. The DTS is powered by a 4.6 liter V8 engine that provides a respectable 275 horsepower. The Town Car is powered by a 4.6 liter V8 as well, though the horsepower is rated at 239. The Infiniti M35 is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine, producing 280 horsepower. The difference in power may be enough to sway some buyers. The engine of the DTS as well as the Infiniti M35 has four valves, while the Town Car engine has just two.
Fuel efficiency is an important topic for many consumers, and a selling point for most. These three vehicles definitely have a lot in common as far as fuel efficiency is concerned. The DTS boasts 17 miles per gallon in the city while it is capable of getting 25 miles to the gallon on the highway. Both the Town Car and the M35 get 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. The difference is small, and the increased horsepower provided by the Cadillac could be responsible for its small disadvantage in the way of fuel efficiency.
The wheelbase of the DTS, Town Car, and the M35 are remarkably similar, as well. The DTS measures 115.6 inches, the Town Car measures 117.7 and the M35 is the shortest measuring 114.2 inches in length. Wheelbase can be indicative of how comfortable the interior is, although trim line in each of the vehicles can make a difference in quality and comfort.
Interior space is comparable for all three vehicles, with the DTS and the M35 seating 5 and the Town Car seating six. The Cadillac has more rear leg room than either of its competitors, which is always important. The Cadillac is different than its two competitors in that it is a front wheel drive vehicle, while the other two are rear wheel drive. The DTS also features a strut front suspension and multi-link rear, while the Lincoln and Infiniti sport a wishbone front suspension. The DTS and the M35 have a multi-link rear suspension in common while the Town Car sports a beam rear suspension.
All three vehicles also sport power locks and windows, an AM/FM stereo, as well as a CD player. If safety features are what sell, passenger and diver airbags come standard in all three. It may be hard to tell these three apart, but each of them is slightly different, with the Cadillac DTS being slightly more powerful than the rest!
