Generally speaking, Cadillac has been wildly successful since its first model was sold in 1903. With the rare exception such as the compact Cimarron, Cadillac has found a consumer base for everyone one of their cars and that trend is likely to continue well into the future. In the past Cadillac has had the ability to hone into what the customer wants and expects and then deliver that and then some. Cadillac consumers should continue to expect powerful, stylish, reliable vehicles in the shape of sedans and even small SUV and crossover SUV styles well into the future.
One of the most exciting vehicles that Cadillac is said to be working on for the future is a small crossover SUV. This vehicle will be smaller than the SRX, but stylish, of high quality, and very comfortable. Rumor has it this vehicle, which will likely be named the BRX, will be offered beginning in the 2009 model year. Because it is smaller but still powerful and a Cadillac vehicle, the BRX will attract a wide consumer base as long as it is competitively priced and has all of the features that one would expect. While the BRX will be exciting for 2009, Cadillac consumers will not have to wait until then to see some changes as the SRX will reportedly be completely redesigned for the 2008 model year.
The Cadillac Cien is reportedly in Cadillac’s future. This futuristic looking vehicle is something to look at, let alone drive. This vehicle was first seen at a car show in 2003 and has been the talk of Cadillac critics and fans since then. The Cien features LCD display panels, night vision, OnStar Telecommunications, rear view cameras and more. The Cien is equipped like no other vehicle has ever been equipped, even a Cadillac, which is saying something! The Cien is also equipped under the engine with a 7.5 liter V12 engine with an impressive 750 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. The Cien will have tough competition as it would be considered a true sports car, and would go up against names like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and more. When the Cadillac Cien hits the market it will not be for your average driver, it will be for the consumer that wants speed, power, and style, provided by a name as reliable as Cadillac.
While the Cadillac Cien has a very limited, focused consumer base, Cadillac has not forgotten about the younger drivers. In Cadillac’s future will likely be Cadillac Sixteen, which looks a lot like the old Eldorado, but edgier and more modern. The Cadillac is often called the Cadillac Sweet V-16, referring to the 16 cylinder engine. This car is no average car either, though it will appeal to a younger generation. It’s been said that the Cadillac Sixteen will provide 1,000 horsepower, which is very impressive. Though the engine will be breaking records and providing speed and power never seen before in a mass produced vehicle, the exterior and interior design are very classic, though not at all lacking. The Cadillac Sixteen will have a presence all its own. Cadillac believes that this two door sedan will definitely boost two door vehicle sales for the first time in quite awhile.
As you can see, the future of Cadillac will remain upscale and high quality, but will be as diverse as ever as Cadillac addresses the needs of all of their consumers. The Cadillac division of General Motors has learned over the year that the Cadillac buyer doesn’t necessarily want a large sedan, and in the future they will deliver more than your typical sedan and that’s a good thing. It will be interesting to see if these vehicles serve as inspiration for other car manufacturers as Cadillac vehicles have in the past.
