In case you haven’t noticed, the new 2008 Cadillac CTS is very eye-catching – especially at night. In front, there are vertical bars on the outside of each headlight that gives the front-end a very unusual appearance. It screams “Cadillac” without having to say anything. It’s very clean and classy-looking.
“We’re giving more attention to how a Cadillac looks at night,” said Jim Taylor, Cadillac’s general manager. And now the 2008 Cadillac Escalade Platinum, slated to hit showroom floors this Summer, will get a similar front-end treatment. “These headlamps will help give the Escalade Platinum a very distinctive appearance.”
I’m not quite sure I understand the reasoning for only giving these new L.E.D. headlights to the Platinum version of the Escalade, however. First of all, shouldn’t all Cadillac vehicles be considered Platinum? If you’ve achieved the level of success that enabled you to afford a brand new Cadillac, shouldn’t you get it all without having to buy an even more special version of a special vehicle?
I’m guessing that from this point on, all Cadillac models will have a Platinum version with these new eye-catching L.E.D. headlights. I’m not sure what they’re going to do in the case of the CTS – where it’s already got nice headlights without being a special model. Personally, I think Cadillac is missing a nice opportunity to set all Cadillac models aside from the rest – at least at night. The way they’re thinking, only the few Platinum versions are going to get the kind of attention that all Cadillac models should receive.
