I have a question. On the most forward end of the Saginaw power steering box, where the aluminum plate and troublesome snap ring reside, there is what appears to be a casting "hump" at the 12:00 position when the box is installed. Does that "hump" serve any purpose? Would there be any reason NOT to cut it off? With the tightness of my project every inch, or fraction thereof, can make a difference.
Thanks,
