If your not going to bush the lifter bores and restrict oil flow at the lifter bore you need to use Pontiac 455 application mechanical roller lifters to prevent aligning the oil passage in lifter with direct oil flow from Cadillaclifter oil passage. CompCams endurex and 460 ford links. The lifters should oil thru the edge holes.
Yes would really like to see a less fuzzy picture. Current engine will be Hyd roller but next one will be Mech Roller and would love to be able to set up a Rev Kit on it. I have found better lifter life when using them on my BBC's . The needle bearings seem to last longer between rebuilds. I no longer rev to 9800 rpm but even at 8000 rpm use seems to help.
A rev will help control hydraulic roller lifters also. The revkit I used was for sbc from Competion Products in Wisconsin. I made the top aluminum button pieces to take up the space between the revkit springs and bottom of the bulldog heads. On the iron heads a piece of flat aluminum stock goes under port area and then the button pieces go on the revkit springs.
