All that for what? Say 90 grand. What a bargain
Greg Surfas
Yeah, not exactly a bargain anymore. Not at all. But I'm still impressed that Cadillac managed to catch up to BMW and Mercedes type performance so quickly. Priced too high? Sure. But let's not forget that Cadillac is in the business to make money just like the German brands.

Kind of curious as to how many Beemer drivers bought their car based on its quarter mile performance. With all due respects to those interested in factory car performance, this forum has been one for those who do things, not buy them.

I'm going to call naivety to suggest that any OEM isn't in a position at any time to put out a product comparable to any other OEM's performance.
No offense intended, the conversation itself is one of semantics and is probably quite the challenge to figure out how to even write about...
Many talented and even less educated professional builders can work "wonders" with just about any platform chosen.
That obstacle is as easy as putting money in someone's hands.
It's definitely a bold move to CHOOSE to do it and at the same time, plan for profit, but hey...that's the corporate world.

The education and technology provided to the promising students vastly exceeds what is available on the marketplace.
Very few get to actually do it in real life.
Engineering resources are more used to create profit in the manufacturing end.

I think when the customers admire technology it is an effective measure of how well their marketing works.
Trust me, you are only seeing what they choose to show you.

As I said in a different forum thread:

I'm with PJ on this one. Well said, Young man.
I hope to drive a Cadillac powered Studebaker (talk about being open minded).

Do I want one of the newer Cadillac rides? No, something about them just doesn't click for me. Still and all, they do carry the same badging - and there is room enough for all. Those who wish not to see the current offering have the choice and can exercise that choice without limiting those who might. Seems strangely democratic - pardon the phrase. As for me, cubic inches rule - along with boost of course!

Best,

Only a couple of weeks ago my attitude was one of not being the least bit interested in Cadillac’s newer offerings. Part of the reason was the "angular" design just didn’t work for me. Secondly, I am Old School and proud of it!

Now comes reality. My very nice, reliable, comfortable, good handling, ‘decently’ powered, four door Acura has been laid waste due to being rear-ended on the freeway. I NEED a suitable replacement. The offerings that I’ve explored have not matched the level of what has gone away. FF, suggested the CTS, and as Eve said to God, "and I partook." Well, not yet in that I haven’t bought anything but I’ve certainly given the CTS a good hard look.

Frankly, my choice would not be the Corvette, supercharged V8, but the twin turbocharged V6-CTS V-Sport. But, they are too pricy for my limited budget. Now, I’m considering at least test driving the normally aspirated version of that same car. Does that make me a traitor to the Big Block? No, it simply means that a certain car might meet the current need and has not eliminated over some arbitrary loyalty to an "age" of automobile.

Final answer is that I am working as hard as possible, putting my limited money where my mouth - and my heart - are. I've been out in the garage this morning working to finish that monster 512 CID, twin turboed, fuel injected, AWD Caddy powered Studebaker. But for the time, I need transportation to get to the 3 assigned separate physical therapies (different billing requirement) and the 1 cardiac rehab. Nuff said?

Bro d:
I just got a caddy xt5 for carla. That is the crossover they have. She is in love with it. Certainly no big block but the 8 speed keeps it in the power band. Do not like the auto shut off at a stop light, though.
