Got a 67 Ford top loader 4 speed FREE. Will it hold up next to TH400 in a drag car situation? I know the Ford trans is super strong. But will it handle the big Cad torque? Would rather go Mexican. El Manual.

Maybe one of the CJ type. Huge input shaft and C6 size output. Even then sketchy.

IDK. With the value of these top loaders just going up, up, up and the scarcity of top loader parts going down. I would rather not find out myself if a 50-year old tranny can handle over 550 ft lbs hooked up.

I would save this for a street car, if you want to use it. This tranny would be the "bees knees" to use with a hot 351w or 408w powered old 60s mustang/fairlane/ranchero/galaxy.

Or sell it and use the money for down payment on a TKO 600, which will handle 600 ft-lbs of torque.
