    Hi gues:
About 4 weeks ago my t400 started slipping when I floored it (my 49 sedanette.)
So I decided to try a 200 4r. Don't laugh. I'm going to give it a try. Gas mileage up 20%. 10 mpg to 12 mpg at 75 +, but that was a mixed tank. Some t400 most 200 4r
The trans guy said that he could build one with billet internals (read that as $$$$$.) The same build as for grand national buicks.
My car has 28 inch tall tires and 2.73 rear. The car would tach at about 2600-2800 on the freeway.
It fit in the same location as the 400 did. Did need a new drive shaft. I also installed a lockup converter with a b & m adjustable lock up kit. So now, it tachs at 1770 rpms at 77 mph. See pict. Don't know how long it will last, but the 400 lasted 10 years with my big lead foot.
    Ciao,
    Mario

Just remember, there is a FREE 4L80E sitting here when you want it.

    I like that heads-up display!

I used to run a built Turbo 350 behind about 550hp on the drag strip and never had a problem.
I think any transmission if built right will work over a stock unit.
    Keep us updated!

    Bro d:
I would have loved to take you up on that deal. My interior was already done; however, there was no way I was going to undo the interior to enlarge the trans tunnel for the 4l 80e when the 200 4r required only a change in the drivshaft length.
Re: that display. that was done by dakota digital in the original guage housing.

I can see the family resemblance. There is nothing like DNA to carry on a 'good' tradition.

    Best,
